La Tea Da
When we were in Houma last week, Mary and Elise were invited to their second cousin Marisela’s birthday party, which was to be held at the “La Tea Da Party Palace.” We were planning to leave Saturday morning, which was the when the party was, but we couldn’t pass up the invitation and rearranged plans to stay another day. It was a good call. This was a little girl’s dream party. Mary and Elise had fun, although you don’t see a single smile on their faces in any of the pictures. Can we say “overstimulated?!” There was much to do and to look at. The place was decorated to the hilt with pink and purple and princess stuff everywhere. There wasn’t a square inch of space left untouched, and the host of the Party Palace had the whole affair organized down to the last detail.
When we first arrived, we were taken to the dressing room to choose from an array of princess dresses and sparkly shoes. My princesses then went on to the makeup table, where they sat stunned while the hostess made up their faces and dabbed perfume on them.
Elise went first…

Here she is all done up, looking beautiful but still stunned!

I love Mary’s face in this picture.

Mary gets her makeup on and remains as serious as can be!

Elise gets her nails painted, while Mary opts out of this step.

After getting all dolled up, it’s time to make our tiaras and scepters.

Next the princesses went into another room for a tea party. The tables were each set with a teapot, teacups, saucers, and spoons. The “tea” was grape Kool-Aid. The hostesses served the tea and then came around to put a sugar cube in each cup. The princesses then had to stir and then sip, “pinkies up!” My two princesses enjoyed four servings each of the Kool-Aid, along with a purple-iced cookie. MMMmmmm, sugar!

Next activity was a fashion show in which each princess had a chance to walk up and down the runway and strut her stuff. Elise went, with the help of a bigger princess. Mary declined but then decided to go up at the last minute for the grand finale where everyone stood on the runway together. Notice that the serious expressions are still there!

Finally it was time for cake and ice cream and presents…more sugar! The girls had a wonderful time, and we appreciate the invitation from Marisela!
