Big Girl Changes
Now that Mary and Elise are bigger and badder, we have had to make a few changes around our house. Travis recently installed a stair gate, so it has served not only to ease our minds about possible tumbles down the stairs but also to be yet another toy for the girls to climb on. It’s also great fun to watch our fatty cat Schwartz try to squeeze his way through the bars!
We also realized that we needed to change car seats. All of a sudden it occurred to us that the girls’ heads were sticking up past the top of the seat, and when we checked the weight limits…let’s just say it was close! So Travis installed their new car seats, given to them by Aunt Cara, which they will be in for quite some time. Gone are the days of the easy-to-use snap-and-go stroller frame!
We also decided it was time to get Mary and Elise some big girl toys, so last Friday we headed out to one of our favorite consignment shops and found a couple of things. I found a really cool table with interchangeable tops with buttons and lights and also a push and walk-behind toy that turns into a ride-on toy. Maybe one of these days Elise or Mary will figure it out. For now, they are loving the table.
So lots has changed, but some things stay the same. Elise is as sweet as ever, a total mama’s girl, and she’s still sucking on those same two fingers she found so long ago. I really hope it doesn’t turn into a bad habit we have to break, but for now it is really sweet.
And Mary is such a silly goose and loves to giggle. She still has the biggest smile ever and the cutest hair I’ve ever seen. We’re going to have to start wearing those barrettes a little more regularly!
