Can’t catch a break
Mary had to be re-intubated this morning. There is still some slight bleeding in her lungs. Dr. Dworski, one of the neonatologist’s, heard a little murmur in her heart this afternoon. He had Dr. Israel, a cardiologist, come by this afternoon to take a look. Dr. Israel diagnosed her with Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). Instead of trying to explain what PDA is, I’ll just refer you to this link. It has a little flash movie with animated drawings.

They do not beleive the bleeding in her lungs is tied to her PDA condition. They also do not beleive either is very serious right now. So we will just have to wait it out and see if it all just goes away, or requries a more invassive treatment. She is looking a little pale right now, but they say her blood supply is still good. There is still a good possibility that she will need a blood transfusion before it is all said and done.
Poor little Mary, she looks so pitiful with her IV in her head. Dawn thinks she kind of looks like he tin man…
